If you want to import or export saved passwords from Microsoft Edge browser, this article will be helpful for you. For this, you do not need to install a third-party extension or opt for a service.

Although generally not recommended, many people often save passwords in the browser. If you are one of them who wants to export all saved passwords and import them into Password Manager, you can do it easily. Suppose you want to migrate all saved passwords from Edge to Chrome or vice versa. While it is quite easy to import saved passwords to Chrome from another browser, you might need to take some additional steps to get it done in Edge.

How to export saved passwords from Microsoft Edge

To export saved passwords from Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Click the Settings button and more.
  3. Select Configuration from the list.
  4. Click the Passwords option.
  5. Click on the three dots icon.
  6. Select the Export passwords option.
  7. Click the Export Passwords button in the pop-up window.
  8. Enter the password to verify.
  9. Select a path to save the .csv file.
  10. Click on the Save button.

Let’s look at these steps in detail.

At first, you have to open the Microsoft Edge browser and click on the Settings button and more. It is visible in the upper right corner and looks like a three-dot icon. You can also press Alt + F. From there click on Settings option.

Now make sure you are on the Profiles tab. If so, you can find the Password option. For your information, if your password is saved in a different profile, you must switch from the current profile to the one before clicking on the Passwords option.

After that, click on the three dots icon associated with the saved password and select the Export passwords option.

You should now see a pop-up window where you can find the Export Passwords button. After clicking on the button, you must enter the password for your user account. If your laptop supports Windows Hello, you can also use the fingerprint, face, or PIN option.

Then you need to select a path where you want to save the file. Once you do that, you need to name your file and click on the Save button.

These are all the steps. If you want to import passwords to Microsoft Edge from a CSV file, please note that this is not possible at this time. Although there is an option to import saved passwords from another browser into Microsoft Edge, support for CSV files is not yet available.

Import passwords into Edge from a CSV file or another browser

To import passwords into Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Expand the Settings and more lists.
  3. Select Favorites> Import.
  4. Select the import browser from the drop-down list.
  5. Clear all the boxes except saved passwords.
  6. Click on the Import button.
  7. Open the Microsoft Edge browser on your computer. Then click on the three-dot icon known as the Settings button and more. After that go to Favorites and select the Import option.

You can now find a pop-up window, where you need to choose the source browser. To do this, expand the Import from the drop-down menu and select a browser from the list. Then you need to uncheck all the boxes except saved passwords. Do so and click on the Import button.

All passwords saved from the source browser should be immediately imported into Microsoft Edge.
