If you’re using the Windows 10 Mail app, you can enable, disable, modify, and use swipe actions. If you’re using a Windows 10 touch device, you can use swipe actions with your finger; otherwise, you can find buttons hovering over an email in your Mail app.
The Mail app in Windows 10 is one of the best free email clients that allows users to add email from almost any provider. Because Windows 10 is highly compatible and fluent in touchscreen monitors, the Mail app offers this functionality to enhance the user experience. Like most email clients for mobile platforms, it can have swipe actions so you can quickly choose something to do (e.g. archive, delete, move, etc.).
Activate and use swipe actions in the Mail app for Windows 10
To enable and use scanning actions in the Windows 10 Mail app, follow these steps:
- Open the Mail app on your Windows 10 computer.
- Click the settings icon.
- Click the Message List option.
- Activate the Activate Sweep Actions button.
- Choose the account to apply the scanning actions.
- Choose to swipe right and swipe actions left.
Open the Mail app on your Windows 10 PC. If it’s already pinned to the taskbar, you can open it from there. Otherwise, you can use the search box on the taskbar to do the work. After opening, you should find a settings icon at the bottom left of the Mail application window.
You must click on this icon. After that, a panel should appear on the right side of the screen. Here you can find an option called Message List. You must click on this option.
By default, swipe actions are enabled. Otherwise, you must toggle the Enable Sweep Actions button. After that, you can choose the account to which you want to apply the actions. If you have multiple accounts and want to use them all, it is best to check the Apply to all accounts box.
Then you can choose scan actions. To do this, expand the Drag to right/scroll and Drag to left / scroll drop-down list and select the action according to your needs. For your information, you can have the options Set / Remove flag, Mark as reading/unread, Archive, Delete, Move and Move to trash.
That’s all! From now on, you can drag to efficiently perform the swipe action.
