In this tutorial, we will mention the steps to enable auto login in Windows 10. To secure the Windows users account, you can either use the password, 6 digit pins, or biometric sign in (limited Laptops). However, if you are annoyed by entering the pin and password again, you can enable auto login in Windows 10. Like its previous versions, Windows 10 also comes with multiple options to sign in to the user accounts.

If your PC doesn’t have, personal, private, confidential stuff than it will be OK for you to disable password. But, you need to remember if you are unfortunate, your Laptop got stollen than the robber is at an advantage.

Procedure to enable auto sign-in in Windows 10:

There are two ways to achieve this. You can disable login credentials directly from the User Accounts control or by editing the registry.

User Accounts Control:

  1. Open the dialog box and press Windows Key + R.
  2. Open the User Accounts window. For this, Type netplwiz and click OK in the Run dialog box.
  3. Uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” box and click on Apply.
  4. Enter the username and password to disable password-based login, When prompted to user credentials. You may have to enter the username and password twice, one of the new password other one for confirmation.
  5. Save the edited password by clicking on OK and exit the window.
  6. Now whenever you went to open the computer, you don’t need to enter your Password.

Windows 10 Enable Auto Login

Enable auto-login using Registry Editor:

The second procedure to enable Auto-Login is using the Registry Editor. This trick is more lengthy than the above one than its easy to follow.

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
  2. Type regedit and click OK.
  3. In the Registry Editor navigate to the following location:
    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
  4. Double-click on DefaultUserName entry.
  5. Type your user name and click OK.
  6. Double-click on the “DefaultPassword” entry. Type your password and click OK.
  7. If DefaultPassword entry does not exist, you have to create it manually. Here is how to do it. If you see the
    1. DefaultPassword entry, jump to step 11.
    2. On the Edit menu, click New and select String Value.
    3. Name it as DefaultPassword and hit enter.
    4. Double-click DefaultPassword, type your password and click OK.
    5. On the Edit menu, click New and select String Value.
    6. Name it as AutoAdminLogon and hit enter.
    7. Double-click on AutoAdminLogon entry.
    8. In the Edit String box, type 1 in the Value field and click OK.
    9. Exit Registry Editor.
  8. Restart your computer. You can now log on automatically without entering the password.

So these were the methods to enable auto sign-in in Windows 10. In our opinion, the first procedure is more convenient for users.
